Precious Feet

What a great week end we had. We wet for a ride on Sat. afternoon. We drove to Sunrise ski resort and saw three elk Two were bulls. We pulled over on the side of the road and just watched for a while. They were on reservation land. We found out that we can buy bull elk tag from the Fort Apache Indians and have a guided bull elk hunt for only .... are ya ready for this? $20,000.00. I think I will go buy one tomorrow. Do you want to come with? it will only be $40,000.00 for the two of us.

On Sunday I got a phone call from a lady at the church. She wanted me to help take care of her mother for a few hours so she could go to church. When I got there she told Me that her Mother (82 years old) is the fonder of the Precious Feet pins for the Pro Life Movement. What a Great lady she is.

To end our week-end We went on a late afternoon four wheeler(Quad) ride. The weather was perfect it was about 70 degrees out side. We found a big game trail so we got off the four wheelers and walked back in. We had the privlage of seeing Three deer. they just stood there and watched us watching them. We ended up riding until dark. It was so beautiful. coming out of the Forest we saw a big owl fly by. And of course No camera to back up up my story. I don't always likes bringing My camera on ride because I don't always know what kind of a trail we are going to end up on. I am going to bring it next time, for sure, and we probaly won't see a thing.

Fall

This is a little bit of what Fall looks like at our house. We live in an area that was burned in the man made Rodeo-Chediski Wildfire in 2002 over 468000 acres were burned. The house we bought was one of the very few that was saved from burning down. Almost six and a half years latter you can still see evidence of the fire less then 20 feet from our house. The fire wood that we have been cutting is all the dead and down trees as a result from the fire, the forest is full of them as you can imagine. The area is growing up nicely and there is plenty of wild life back in the area. Mostly there are pine and oak trees in this area so the fall colors are not very vibrant But I enjoy them any ways. I like to tell people that the house was saved for us. That's why it didn't burn.(It did have a little burn damage; they had to replace the roof)

Look at the moon!

I must be picture happy today. We were sitting down to eat a very late dinner and Marty noticed how orange the moon was. The girls thought it looked like a pumpkin. Ha Ha Ha :)

Say hello to my little friends friend

It must be spider day at the Fox house today. We found this one by our garage door. I have lived in Az for about 15 years and this is my first Tarantula that I have seen. Never a dull moment.

Say hello to my little friend

How would you like to be on your back porch and share a cup of coffee with this! Nice huh. Well I wasn't realy drinking coffee I was looking out my kitchen window and saw this monster. I think it is the biggest spider I have seen here. I can't believe I took a picture of it. I think It is a wolf spider. They eat other spiders so I Let it live. That and I can't stand the crunch sound they make when you smoosh them.

Well We didn't get to cut any fire wood this week-end. we woke up Sat. morning around three and again around five and it was rainy and very windy winds up to 80 MPH! it felt like the big bad wolf was trying to blow us off the mountian. We did get our canoes hung up in our garage. We figured that had to get that done being the the wind picked one up and blew it down the hill and hit the shed. Now were just trying to stay warm with the fire place. I think we are going to be cold this winter. It has been a while since we lived in snow or any place that had weather besides hot with a chance of getting hotter.

Well I didn't bring my camera when we went out to cut fire wood, but we are going again this weekend so I will try to remember it. It always figures when you don't have it you wish you did. We saw a few critters this time. First we saw a little snake ,not sure what kind. Marty thought he would play snake charmer and pick it up by the tail.(I know , very stupid) the girls were screaming. He thought it was pretty funny. I'll admitt I was screaming a little too.
After that we drove further into the woods to find more wood to cut and I saw a bear running up the side of the mountian. It was pretty big. It got Marty thinking he might want to go bear hunting again this year (we struck out last year). Last but not least we were in the middle of cutting up a tree and and found a few hornets under the bark. sounds like fun don't it.

Cutting wood

Well we get to go and cut fire wood this weekend. I can't believe it. It should be fun. It will be quite the experience for the girls. I will be bringing my camera so hopefully I will have pictures. I am not very good at this blog thing yet.
